Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Late last night, a fire erupted on the third floor of a six-storey building situated on Surya Sen Street in Sealdah, Kolkata. The blaze, located directly in front of Jagat Cinema Hall, required the efforts of five fire department vehicles, working tirelessly for over three hours to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far.
The cause of the fire remains uncertain, although some speculate it may have originated from cooking sparks or similar sources.
Fire Minister Sujit Basu promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation, arriving before the fire had been fully contained. Basu commended the firefighters for their swift response, which prevented the fire from spreading further. The use of hydraulic ladders was necessary to combat the blaze in the narrow area, compounded by the presence of nearby markets.
By approximately 1:00 am, the fire was brought under complete control. Cooling operations have continued throughout Wednesday morning to ensure the area remains safe.
Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the incident.
